Professor Zhimin Lin joined VU's faculty in 1990 and has served as the chair of the Chinese and Japanese Studies Program since 1998. Dr. Lin earned a M.P.A. from Princeton University and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington. He is the author or co-author of three books, State Capacity and Reform in China (Westview, 1995), Provincial Strategies of Economic Reform in Post-Mao China (M. E. Sharpe, 1999), and China under Reform (Mason Crest, 2005) and the author of a dozen articles and book chapters. His current research projects include book projects on the institutionalization of reform in Zhejiang, reforms in China and India, and a comparative study of public perceptions of US-China relations (funded in part by the Freeman Faculty-Student Fellowship Program). Professor Lin has extensive experience in developing and managing programs focusing on China studies. He has played a vital role in establishing VU's strong presence in the Hangzhou region of China.
