Any Valpo-bound freshman or transfer student can apply for the Chinese and Japanese Studies scholarship. To receive the scholarship, however, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
- The applicant applies to Valparaiso
University by January 15, 2008 and is admitted.
- The applicant selects Chinese
and Japanese Studies (CJS) as his/her major. If the applicant
has already chosen a Valpo major other than CJS, he/she needs
to select CJS as a second major. In order to renew the scholarship,
the recipient must remain majoring in CJS throughout his/her
study at Valpo.
- The applicant demonstrates
strong interest in Chinese and Japanese Studies by submitting
an application form and a brief statement concerning the applicant's
motivation for studying the field of Chinese and Japanese
Studies.
- The application for the Chinese
and Japanese Studies scholarship is submitted by February
1, 2008.
- The applicant is endorsed
by at least one high school teacher/counselor who is in a
position to comment on the applicant's strengths.
- The applicant maintains a
minimum GPA of 2.75 at Valpo and a minimum GPA of 3.25 in
courses related to Chinese and Japanese Studies.
