Biography

Professor Jamie Bump teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate programs within the College of Nursing and Health Professions. In addition to her faculty role, she is an advanced practice provider in hospital medicine at a community hospital in Northwest Indiana. Professor Bump earned both her Bachelors of Science in Nursing as well as her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Valparaiso University. She is ANCC Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She also holds certification as an American Society of Quality Six Sigma Black Belt, as a Professional in Patient Safety and as a Practitioner of Healthcare Quality. She has extensive experience in leading performance improvement teams to improve safety, quality and efficiency of care, most recently within a large, tertiary, academic medical center in Chicago. She is a member of the American Society for Quality, AANP, CAPNI, American College of Cardiology, and Sigma Theta Tau, Zeta Epsilon Chapter, where she serves as Faculty Advisor. Dr. Bump has had poster presentations at three of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s National Forums, and was a multiple session speaker at the 2009 Society for Health Systems’ National Conference. She has co-authored and led case studies of previous Lean Six Sigma improvement efforts. Additionally, she was a featured speaker at the 2019 Executive Conference of the Health Industry Distributor’s Association.
