Guests with Special Needs

All requests for seating accommodations need to be made by Monday, Dec. 8, 2014.

Wheelchair Access:

Guests in wheelchairs will be directed to an area at the end of pews. Please advise us of anyone in your party who is in a wheelchair or who might need special assistance. One seat on the end of the pew will be reserved for a member of the family to sit with the person in the wheelchair. Requests for wheelchair accommodations should be made to Integrated Marketing and Communications by email to or by calling 219.464.6800 prior to December 8. Please include information about how you may be contacted should we have questions about your request.

Hearing Impaired:

A special area will be reserved for guests who are hearing impaired and a sign language interpreter will sign the ceremony for those who desire that assistance. Please inform us in advance of your need for these services. People wishing to sit in this area should inform an usher as they enter the Chapel before commencement begins.

Restroom Facilities:

Restroom facilities in the Chapel of the Resurrection are located down a circular flight of stairs. Because these stairs are difficult to navigate for those with walking disabilities and impossible for those in wheelchairs, we suggest using the easily accessible facilities in the Harre Union, which is adjacent to the Chapel. Ushers, marshals, and other members of the University community are available for assistance.
