Paul Oren, M.S.

Paul Oren, Lecturer, joined the Communication Department in 2005. In addition to teaching, he serves as the faculty advisor to WVUR-FM, Valparaiso University’s student radio station.

After graduating from Valpo in 2002 with a B.A. in Sports Journalism, Professor Oren worked for the Milwaukee Radio Alliance for three years, serving as the Promotions Director for WLUM-FM, WJZI-FM and WMCS-AM.

Since returning to his alma mater, WVUR-FM has twice (2006, 2008) been named the Indiana Radio School of the Year by the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters.  Many students who have been taught by Professor Oren have moved on to successful jobs in major markets such as Chicago, Orlando and Oklahoma City.

In addition to his work at Valpo, Professor Oren has served as a sports correspondent for the Northwest Indiana Times for the last four years, covering everything from high school to professional sports in the Chicagoland area.

In 2009, Professor Oren completed his M.S. in Sports Administration.  He holds membership in the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, and also teaches in the Department’s Masters degree program in Digital Media.
