Introduction to Chinese Culture  New
Welcome to a course on the fascinating culture of China. This course, which will be conducted in a series of discussion topics, will focus on exploring the history, traditions and beliefs of the Chinese people. You don’t need to be able to speak Chinese to enjoy this program. All you need is an interest in learning about the people and culture along the Silk Road. Topics will include history, arts, Chinese cooking, travel, customs, and more. The course tuition fees include all materials for the course (same below).

Registration Fee: $150 /$120 (the lower price for CIVU members, who’ll be automatically accepted as such upon registration; same below)

Chinese for Beginners
This is a fun-filled introduction to the Chinese language. There will be no pre-requisites. The aim of this 12-week course is to provide a basic introduction to speaking and reading in Chinese. Your instructor will be a native Chinese. You will focus on building a small vocabulary and learn how to read and write some Chinese characters.

Conversational Chinese
This is a continuation and reinforcement of our Chinese for Beginners course. You will continue to increase your vocabulary and learn to have simple conversations in Chinese and to read and write basic Chinese characters. You will learn how to ask for directions, talk about simple daily life tasks and be able to read simple Chinese bus/train schedules.

Chinese for Children (ages 6-11)
This class will help children to learn the Chinese language. Basic words and sentence structures will be taught along with phrases and fun activities such as songs and puzzles. The aim is to make them familiar with the Chinese language and to encourage them to foster an interest in learning more about China and its people.
