Several construction projects are in place to expand
resources throughout campus. These projects include new construction,
restoration and renovation, and demolitions, all designed to improve campus
facilities, playing a central role in the University’s efforts to grow to 6,000
students as part of the University’s Strategic Plan.

15,000-square-foot Welcome Center will create a
front door for the University and will support the needs of prospective
students, alumni, and all guests visiting the campus

Richard Duesenberg
The 2,000-square-foot research facility,
adjacent to the Gellersen Center, is the only solar furnace located at a U.S.
undergraduate institution
Since 2000, students have been working on the
design and building process
Two senior design teams are working on the
project, with one team focusing on the solar furnace reactor platform and the
other team designing the solar flux instrument
In addition to design teams, over 40 past and
present students have helped in the building of the solar research facility

The nearly $13 million project is an addition to
the south of the Gellersen Engineering and Mathematics Center, which covers
13,470 square feet and is made up primarily of laboratory and learning space
for undergraduate engineering students
Project also included renovation of about 4,300
square feet of existing laboratory facilities
