Take Courses to Renew Your Teaching License

and

Earn Credit Toward a Master’s Degree

Valparaiso University’s Graduate School and Department of Continuing Education now offers educators the opportunity take courses online to renew their Indiana, Missouri or Ohio teaching licenses through a partnership with Performance Learning Systems (PLS), an organization dedicated to helping educators become more effective in the art of teaching through specialized graduate courses. We welcome teachers from all over the U.S., but advise these teachers to check with their state board of licensure to ensure these courses are acceptable for relicensure in their specific state. All courses, as well as the instructors who teach them, have been approved by Valparaiso University’s Department of Education. Valparaiso University is accredited by the following:

Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) www.ncacihe.org
National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) www.ncate.org

To apply, complete the following quick and easy steps:

Fill out the electronic application on the VU website,
Login and Register on the PLS website,
Select your courses.

Then:

Print and have the employment verification* signed by the appropriate person,
Print out copy of teachers license*

*Please forward these last two documents to Valparaiso University only after completing the electronic application. Your employment verification and copy of teaching license can either be scanned and emailed to sandra.chermak@valpo.edu or mailed to the following address:

Please be advised that release of transcripts may be delayed if all required paperwork has not been received by the Graduate Office at Valparaiso University.

Educators who earn Valparaiso University graduate credits through PLS may apply up to 12 credits toward select graduate degree programs at Valparaiso University. These credits may not apply to license renewal in states other than Indiana. Please check your states policies.
