Colleagues:
I’m pleased to announce that the Committee on Creative Work and Research (CWR) has extended the deadline for applications for University Research Professorships until December 1, 2009. A maximum of two University Research Professorships may be awarded each year. Professorships provide one semester of full-time leave with pay or two semesters in the same academic year with half-time load, plus a stipend of $4,000. The stipend is not subject to retirement benefits. Colleges to which the faculty recipient belongs will receive $15,000 from the Office of the Provost in compensation for the leave, but the expenditure of the funds is controlled by the dean of the college.
I’m especially pleased to also announce a major change in the O.P. Kretzmann Memorial Fund for Research in the Healing Arts and Sciences (Wheat Ridge Foundation). Heretofore, this has been one annual grant with a maximum award of $7,500. Effective immediately, this endowment will now allow up to three annual grants with a maximum award of $10,000 each. For grant purposes, the healing arts and sciences are defined as any organized bodies of knowledge that have practical application to problems of physical, spiritual, and mental health. This would include, but not be limited to, biology, chemistry, nursing, psychology, social work, sociology, and theology. Research proposals will be eligible for consideration for an O.P. Kretzmann Fund grant if they address themselves to questions of the analysis, diagnosis, and/or cure of problems of physical, spiritual, and mental health, irrespective of the academic department of the researcher. The CWR has extended the deadline for applications for the Kretzmann Memorial (Wheat Ridge) grant until December 15, 2009.
Further details on both these grant opportunities are in Appendix E of the Faculty Handbook and on-line at the CWR website. Applications are being accepted in the Office of the Assistant Provost, Kretzmann 107, and are due no later than 5:00 p.m. on the deadline.
Regards,
