Life Review
Current ResearchUse of Creative Referencing in School Counseling Settings Creative Referencing is an expressive therapeutic technique that utilizes creative formats to reference problems. School counselors often work with students whose communication skills are challenging. These students may not be able to articulate their problems clearly, or in some cases, students are unwilling to verbalize issues. In these instances, creative referencing is a technique that may bring to light the student’s problem thus enabling counselors to determine the presenting problem. Counselors can help children who are resistant to oral therapy by using creative referencing to communicate and illuminate the issue in an alternative way.
