The Department of Education at Valparaiso University invites applications for a one-year, full-time position as a visiting professor beginning in August 2009 in elementary education. Candidates must have academic qualifications and experience to teach literacy as well as other courses in elementary education (science, math) and general teacher education courses.
Located 45 minutes from Chicago in northwest Indiana, Valparaiso University is a comprehensive university with over 3600 students. The Department offers three masters level degree programs. All programs have significant field components and the Department has a very active collaborative partnership with area schools. Candidates should be willing to work in a scholarly community committed to Christian higher education and the Lutheran tradition.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a field relevant for this position. In addition to scholarly ability, the University places emphasis on teaching and preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
