Kerri Steelman, Elementary Education Major

Kerri Steelman, Elementary Education major, receives the "Outstanding Leadership and Service" Award

Through a program of leadership and service awards, Student Affairs recognizes the many contributions that students make to the University and/or local community. The Outstanding Leadership and ServiceAward, in particular, is given annually to senior students in recognition of the depth and breadth of the leadership and service they provide to the University and/or local community.

It goes without saying that there are many Valparaiso University students who make valuable contributions to a specific department or other unit of the institution. However, it is important to understand that the students who are most likely to be selected for the Outstanding Leadership and Service Award are those who have a documented record of depth of leadership and service involvement and a breadth of contributions in a number of areas.

Faculty and staff of the University may nominate senior students for the award. The general criteria for nomination include:

·      Senior students who will be graduating in May or December 2008.

·      A cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 at the time of nomination.

·      A record of leadership and service contributions to the University and/or
       local community.
