Homecoming 2007, "Coming Home", provided a warm reunion and celebration for the Department of Education to recognize the contributions of three outstanding alumni to their students, schools, and communities.

Carol Stoker Petzold, 1959, B.S. in Elementary Education

Olympia McClendon Johnson, 2001, Music Education

Music Teacher, Gary, Indiana and sSaxophone teacher at DancExcel-Champion Center for Creative Arts.

During her career she has revitalized the music programs at Eddison Middle School and Bailly Middle School and has recently partnered with Wirt High School to strengthen their concert and marching bands. She actively promotes fine arts education, voluntarily assisting student ensembles throughout the city. Olympia performs with local musicians in her spare time.

Dr. William T. Roberts, 1994, History & Secondary Education

Upon graduating from college, William taught history at Lew Wallace and West Side High Schools. After teaching five years, William began his administrative career holding the positions of Dean of Students at West Side, Title XX Hearing Officer/ Expulsion Examiner, Supervisor of Grant Programs and Community Involvement, and Assistant Principal at West Side High School and Terre Haute North Vigo High School. Currently, William is serving as principal of Benjamin Bosse High Evansville, IN.

Outside of the school, William has been very active in the church. In 2000 William was licensed to preach the gospel at New Providence Baptist Church. William has held the positions of Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Director of Vacation Bible School, Minister of Music, and Youth Pastor. Presently, William is Assistant Pastor of New Providence Baptist Church a position he has held for six years.
