OneCard--Don't Leave Anywhere Without IT

By Joanne Pesavento, OneCard Office Manager

It’s the end of the year. . .no more worries, no more papers. . .you can leave it all behind . . .but don’t leave behind your OneCard ID! You do not need to get another OneCard ID with the beginning of each new school year. In fact, if it's not lost, stolen or damaged, your OneCard ID should last your entire stay here at VU.

We all have the responsibility to do our part to help maintain security, and keeping track of your OneCard ID aids in that process. As the uses for your OneCard ID expand on campus, it is vital that you know the whereabouts of your OneCard ID. Keep your OneCard ID with other important forms of identification such as your driver’s license, so that when you return to campus you are ready to begin a new year.

If you suspect theft and/or unauthorized usage of your card, please contact the OneCard Office at 219-464-5131, OneCard@Valpo.edu, the VU Police Department at 219-464-5430 or the IT Help Desk at 219-464-5678 to report the incident and have your card suspended. If you have lost your OneCard ID and would like it suspended so that no one else can make us of your card, or you need to replace it, contact the OneCard office. There is a ten dollar fee for replacing your ID card, payable by check or cash at the time of reprint.

As you have heard, when students return for the 2008-2009 academic year they will find that the current key access system for residential halls will be replaced with OneCard swipe access systems for the front doors. During the academic year you will find the addition of new card swipe access on various buildings and vending services throughout campus. Keep your eye on SummIT for updates on new OneCard services coming soon to Valpo. Stay safe and have a great summer.
