Projects Laboratory |
OverviewThe James S. Markiewicz Manufacturing and Project Center includes the following laboratories:
The laboratory is staffed by a full-time technician. After students are trained on the equipment they may use the laboratory for student organization projects and Senior Design projects. |
Associated CoursesMechanical engineering students are introduced to the laboratory in the following fashion: Sophomore year (ME 253: Manufacturing Lab) Students learn to use manual machine tools including mills, lathes, drill presses, shears, brakes, and saws. Junior year (ME 353: Manufacturing Processes) Students learn to program CNC mills and lathes using Intuitive programming. Senior year (ME 455: Advanced Manufacturing) Students learn to program CNC mills and lathes using Computer-Aided Manufacturing software. |
Projects LaboratoryDuring the fall semester, the projects laboratory is used by freshmen engineering students as part of the GE 100 course. During the spring semester, the projects laboratory is used by senior mechanical and electrical engineering students to assemble and test their senior design projects. |
