Overview

The materials science and engineering laboratory provides students with hands-on experience in materials science and engineering:

Associated Courses

Mechanical engineering students are introduced to the laboratory in the following fashion:

Sophomore year

ME 252: Materials Science Lab: Students perform experiments to determine the properties of a variety of materials.  Additionally, students investigate material structures and a variety of material processing operations such as heat treating and bulk deformation.
