Professor Eric Johnson, Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, gave a presentation on his recent visit to VIEP locations in Europe.
September 30 - "The Fourth-Year Experience: Erin Dillon and Jon Larson Reporting"
Civil Engineer, Erin Dillon, reports on the year in Germany that culminated with her work on a major construction site in Reutlingen: Erin was a member of the project team for the city's new civic center. Jon Larson, Mechanical Engineering, reports on his work with WAFIOS, an international company with its headquarters in Reutlingen that produces machinery to bend and shape tubes and wires.

Sept 18 - "VIEP from Start to Finish"
Valpo mechanical engineering alum and VIEP graduate Peter Krenzke talks about his experience in the VIEP program. There will also be a debriefing of the Schnuppertour from the students who went last May.
May 17 – 25-“Schnuppertour 2008”
Our second "Schnuppertour" to Reutlingen included nine students and two faculty members. The company tours (Bosch, Audi, Wafios) were informative and the tours to Sigmaringan and Zwiefalten were interesting. A summary of the trip including photos will be posted soon.
Sept 18 - "The VIEP Fourth Year Experience"
The class of 2008 (the second VIEP-class) presents their perspective on their year abroad including taking engineering courses in German at Reutlingen University and the specific cooperative-education placements that they each held:

March 23 - "The VIEP Fourth-Year Experience: Life, Study, and Work in Reutlingen"
Prof. Eric Johnson, Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and currently Director of the Reutlingen Study Abroad Program, returned for a week to Valpo to brief VIEP students on experiences that the VIEP Class of '07 is having in Germany. His talk included a PowerPoint presentation providing information on the students' experience in Germany and a music-based slide show that featured Marc, Andrew, and Elizabeth in class, on tour, and on the job.
October 11 - "Schnuppertour De-Briefing"
Several VIEP-German students who participated in the May 2004 trip to Reutlingen and Villigen reported on their experience for the benefit of first-year students and professors on both the Engineering and German faculties. A slide show of the trip was included.
March 28 - "On the Autobahn Again: Living and Working in the Global Economy"
VU alumnus Dirk Busse ('95) returned to campus from Germany where he works for Siemens in the telecommunications area. Because Dirk is culturally and linguistically fluent in German, English, and Chinese, his career has taken him around the world.
October 6 - “A Valpo Engineer in Reutlingen”
Presentation by Christopher Lehmann. Valpo and CoE Alumnus, Chris Lehmann, returned to campus to talk about his experiences as an engineering student who not only studied abroad in Reutlingen, but also took a summer internship in the Reutlingen city government (streets and sanitation). During his presentation, Mr. Lehmann showed slides and described his experiences living and working in Reutlingen.
May 15 – 23-“Schnuppertour 2004”
Nine VIEP students and two faculty members spent one week in the Reutlingen area learning about the German culture and visiting engineering companies. The students had a wonderful time and are looking forward to their own year in Germany.
