Student Achievements (2005)

  • Valparaiso University engineering student Jason Hallman of Rockford, Ill., has won a national scholarship from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Hallman is one of 16 students in the country to receive a ASME Foundation Scholarship. Award recipients were selected based on their scholastic ability and potential contributions to the mechanical engineering profession. (June 2005)
  •  Robby Copouls, a senior civil engineering major, was awarded the Solon E. Summerfield Award by the Endowment Fund of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. The primary selection criteria are academic standing, and leadership and service to the chapter, campus and community. (Feb. 2005)
  •  Valparaiso University junior Rachel Husfeld of Katy, Texas, has been named to USA Today's 2005 All-USA College Academic Team in recognition of her outstanding academic achievements and leadershipof the Engineers Without Borders Kenya project. Husfeld and 19 other students were selected by a panel of judges from more than 600 students nominated by colleges and universities across the United States. (Feb. 2005)
  • Derek Snyder was recipient of the Indiana Section ASCE Student Award and the Illinois Section ASCE Urban Planning and Development Group Scholarship. (2005)
  • David Galik received the Ben King Award for Phi Kappa Psi members majoring in engineering or related fields. (2005)
  • Ashley Young received the Associated General Contractors Education and Research Foundation's 2005 Ralph W. & Marilyn A. Johnson Undergraduate Scholarship.
