The department of English welcomes Professor Jason Crawford, a 2009-2011 Lilly Postdoctoral Fellow in the Arts and Humanities. Crawford earned his bachelor's degree in English and philosophy at Louisiana State University and a Ph.D. in English at Harvard University. Crawford's interests range from antiquity to the Renaissance in the Western tradition, with a focus on late medieval and early modern English poetry. His doctoral dissertation, "Personification and its Discontents," explores the decay of allegory in English poetry from the 14th to the 17th centuries.
This fall, Crawford will teach the Christ College Freshman Program course "Texts and Contexts."
