The Margot Ann Uehling prize for writing is a $1,000 Valparaiso scholarship awarded to the best non-fiction prose essay.  Essay submissions can take any form (scholarly or personal narrative) and may originate from course work or independent composition. Students are limited to one entry of 1000 words or more.  Clearly mark submission as “Uehling Prize Entry” and put author’s name on the first page only.  Please submit only single-sided paper copies-- no electronic documents.

Eligibility:  Full or part time VU undergrad graduating Dec. 2009 or later.

Deadline: June 1, 2009 to Prof. Owens’s office or mailbox in Huegli Hall (address mail-ins to David M. Owens, Dept of English,Valparaiso University, 220 Huegli Hall, Valparaiso, IN 46383)

Notification:    Department of English will announce winning essay early in fall semester.
