MICHAEL MARTONE TO READ AT WORDFEST

Michael MartoneOn Monday, September 28, Indiana-born author Michael Martone will read from many works about his home state and from his autobiography Michael Martone

 Martone was born and grew up in Fort Wayne. Martone is currently a professor of English and director of the creative writing program at the University of Alabama, where he has taught since 1996. Before that, he taught at Syracuse University, Iowa State University and Harvard University.

Martone is the author of five books of short fiction including Seeing Eye, Pensées: The Thoughts of Dan Quayle, Fort Wayne Is Seventh on Hitler's List, Safety Patrol and Alive and Dead in Indiana.  His short story The Death of Derek Jeter recently appeared in Esquire magazine. 

Martone's reading will take place in the Brauer Museum of Art at 7:00 p.m. and is the first event in the 2009-2010 Wordfest series. Wordfest events are free and open to the public.
