Most visible changes in the building over the next two weeks will be created by continued installation of smaller windows on the north and west sides of the building and laying of limestone blocks at the southeast corner of the building. Installation of the larger windows at the curved corners of the building will come later this fall, so temporary covering of these openings will allow heating of the building and continuation of interior work as temperatures drop. In addition to continuation of brick/masonry work, exterior work in the next week or two will include pouring concrete pads for air-conditioning equipment.
Inside the building, individual rooms and service areas are becoming more distinct with the installation of wall studs. Work continues on installation of electric conduit, heating/cooling ductwork and water lines.
Off campus, design of the heating/cooling system has been completed and construction of various units is being scheduled. The kitchen contractor is actively engaged in finalizing drawings and specifications for kitchen equipment.

Although the ramp is in use without limitations, workers continue to put finishing touches on the facility, including installation of remaining windows and exterior panels. It is anticipated that all work will be completed by Thanksgiving.

The last major landscaping restoration project remaining from last spring’s digging on campus will be addressed in the next few weeks. A landscaping plan for the area in front of Kreztmann Hall has been approved and work should begin in the next few weeks.

The dirt excavated to create the basement for the new Union was hauled to the far eastern edge of campus in the Eastgate sports complex. The “mountain” created by that dirt is now being leveled and graded. Once that step is completed, top soil will be added and the area seeded. Once turf is firmly established, the new field will be available for recreational sports.
