Facilities Management is in charge of storm water management on campus.

The EPA has a focus on decreasing and controlling storm water run off. Some of the issues are:

• Reduce flooding of the underground system
• Reduce water running across the surface into streets, parking, and walks
• Reduce contaminants into the water stream
• Annual cleaning of catch basins

Remedies have included:

• Storm water retention/detention structures
• Oversized catch basins
• Oversized tiles
• Increased plantings
• Surface drain roofs that drain onto grass
• Underground water storage structures

Regulations include:

• Testing of outflow waters
• Mapping of water flows
• Permits for outflows and volumes
