Although I was living in Germany when I went through the college search process, Valparaiso University did a wonderful job educating me on all they had to offer. I was impressed by the intimate student/faculty ratio and the quality of the facilities. From the moment I visited campus, I knew that Valpo was the place for me. Valpo truly helped prepare me for the workforce. I was a student aide in the library and an assistant in the Office of Public and Alumni Affairs. I was also a member of the Honor Council, which was instrumental in framing my interest in law. Additionally, I formed mentoring relationships on campus and in the business world. Valpo helped establish a life-long mentoring relationship with alumnus Richard Duesenberg, retired Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Monsanto Company. The ongoing mentorship that he has provided me has been essential to my success in my current role. Today I am the Chief Legal Officer & Group Vice President for Public Affairs for Coors Brewing Company. I lead five departments which are responsible for our public policy and natural resources activities. My greatest achievements at Coors involve helping others succeed. I have mentored many people both in and out of my company and have worked hard to foster a greater sense of diversity within the legal profession. Valpo means more to me than I can express on paper. Few other universities embrace their students and nurture them for years to come. I am proud to say that I’m a Valpo Graduate.
