Julie Winkler '96 DEVELOPING EXCEPTIONAL LEADERS
When I went through the college search process, I sought a Midwest university that was smaller in size. I enjoyed my campus visit to Valpo and was impressed by the variety of majors available to students as well as Valpo’s reputation for academic excellence.
The attention and mentoring I received from professors in the College of Business Administration greatly impacted my education. Small class sizes allowed my professors to spend more time with students and present more challenging material, while also focusing on teamwork. I was able to improve my writing skills as a result of Valpo’s integrated liberal arts education, which has greatly benefited my career.
Today, I am the Managing Director of Research and Product Development for the CME Group (formed by the 2007 merger of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade). My team is responsible for new product development, maintenance of our existing product portfolio, and research. We also provide educational and marketing support for our products and work with Business Development to identify new strategic opportunities.
Many of my career successes can be attributed to the values and skills that I learned at Valpo. My Valpo mentors are some of the most important parts of my business network today. I am truly proud to say that I’m a Valpo Graduate.
