Applying for Financial Aid

The financial aid package you receive can directly impact the affordability of a quality college education, whether public or private. Valpo offers 90% of its first-time freshman a financial aid package that may include a combination of scholarships, grants, loans, and/or campus employment, depending upon the student's need. You and your family may be very surprised to learn just how affordable Valpo can be!

How to Apply

•New students receive consideration for academic scholarships and awards not based on need when they apply and are admitted to Valparaiso University. Click Here to Apply

•To be considered for federal (including loans) and state financial aid, YOU MUST FILE THE FAFSA each year.

•Student and Parent can apply for a PIN to electronically sign the FAFSA www.pin.ed.gov

To enhance the security of your U.S. Department of Education PIN and your personal information on the Web, there are two significant changes to the PIN process that you should be aware of.

If you already have a PIN, the first time you attempt to use it on or after December 26, 2004, you will be prompted to agree to a PIN Terms and Conditions Activation Agreement, which asks you not to share your PIN with anyone and to keep it in a safe place, and to select and answer a challenge question. Only you will know the answer to your challenge question, and it may be used to validate your identity in the future.

If you apply for a PIN on or after December 26, 2004, you will be required to agree to the terms and conditions and provide a challenge question and response before your PIN will be issued.

These changes have been made to ensure the security of the PIN process and to remind you of the importance of safeguarding your PIN. Your PIN serves as your electronic signature and provides access to your personal records, and it is critical that it remain as secure as possible.

•File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov by the March 10th deadline and receive your results one to two weeks earlier than submitting your FAFSA by mail. (*Indiana residents - the federal processor must receive your application by March 10th to be considered for Indiana State Aid)

Valpo's Federal School Code is 001842. You will need this number to complete the FAFSA.
