American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) Foundation Scholarship & Grant Program

Army Nurse Corps Association Scholarship Program

The College of Nursing must nominate a student. For more information to see if you qualify, please be in contact with VU's Nursing College.

An eligible student is:

1. Nursing or anesthesia students who plan to enter a component of the US Army and are enrolled in a program not funded by a component of the US Army.

2. Nursing or anesthesia students who have previously served in a component of the US Army.

3.Army Nurse Corps officers in a component of the US Army enrolled in a baccalaureate or graduate nursing or nurse anesthesia program not funded by a component of the US Army.

4. Army enlisted soldiers in a component of the US Army enrolled in a baccalaureate nursing program not funded by a component of the US Army.

5.Nursing or anesthesia students whose parent(s), spouse and/or children are or have served in a component of the US Army.

Students who receive a ROTC scholarship are not eligible; however, ROTC students not receiving a scholarship are eligible. Because ANCA does not have an official affiliation with the Army Nurse Corps or the U.S. Army, there is no military service obligation incurred by the student who receives scholarship funds through this program. Questions concerning service in the military should be directed to a military recruiter.

HRSA Nursing Scholarship Program

The Nursing Scholarship Program is a selective program of the U.S. Government that helps alleviate the critical shortage of registered nurses currently experienced by certain types of health care facilities by helping needy students complete their registered nurse training. In exchange for thescholarship, upon graduation, the newly minted nurses work at these types of facilities for at least 2 years.

Amount: Up to full tuition plus stipend

La Porte Hospital Foundation Scholarships

The criteria below must be met for each scholarship listed for the category of La Porte Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Opportunities:

1. Student must be in their freshman or sophomore year
2. Be enrolled in a health career field
3. Resident of LRHS service area (La Porte County, southeast Berrien County, eastern St. Joseph County, and northern Starke County) OR
4. Be current LRHS employee, child of an LRHS employee, La Porte Hospital Auxiliary member, volunteer, or enrollees in training institutions affiliated with or directly related to LRHS.

1. Door Prairie Painters Scholarship

2. Harold and Marcy Bowen Scholarship
Amount: $500

3. LaPorte Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship
Amount: $750-$1,000

4. Walter Hrankaj Scholarship

The criteria below must be met for each scholarship listed for the category of La Porte Hospital Scholarship Opportunities:

1. Resident of LRHS service area (La Porte County, southeast Berrien County, eastern St. Joseph County, and northern Starke County) OR

Eligibility:
1. Available to LRHS employees seeking an advanced degree in health care
2. A current La Porte Regional Health System employee

1. Student studying to become a physician

Eligibility:
1. Must be entering junior or senior year in preparation for a health care career in fields directly employed by La Porte Regional Health System.

1. Pursuing careers in occupations that have been deemed as critical shortage areas
2. In their final year of training

The purpose of this scholarship is to assist individuals to advance in his or her education within the healthcare field.

Nursing Home Abuse Scholarship

Eligibility:

Currently attending an accredited post-secondary institution
A US citizen
Already receiving some type of financial aid
Getting a degree in:
- Nursing (a background in geriatrics is preferred),
- Social Work,
- Psychology, or
- Healthcare Administration

Student must be considering using to work with the senior citizen population or to help combat nursing home abuse with their degree.
