Ament-Brenner Health Care Scholarship

Application Form

The Ament-Brenner Health Care Scholarship has been established at Valparaiso University by the Lutheran Charities Foundation of St. Louis for the purpose of assisting Lutheran students who wish to prepare for a career in the health field. The scholarship honors Louise Krauss Ament and Frieda Brenner. Both were loved and respected by hundreds of students across the country and were recognized as dedicated Christians, serving simultaneously their Lord and fellow human beings.

Ament-Brenner Scholarships are awarded annually to admitted students on the basis of scholastic ability and financial need. Awards vary in amount up to full tuition annually.

Ament Brenner Scholarship Eligibility criteria:

  • Member of a Lutheran congregation in the Greater St. Louis Area;
  • Plan to prepare for a career in the health field;
  • Upon admission to Valparaiso University, completion of this scholarship application, received by by March 1, including:
    • A brief essay (300-400 words) about your understanding of the relationship between your faith and the health profession, plus
    • A letter of recommendation from both a high school teacher and your pastor or DCE sent to Valparaiso University at the following address:
