Richard Kauzlarich, former U.S. Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina
Ambassador Kauzlarich, a VU graduate, was Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1997-99 and to Azerbaijan in 1993-97. He was Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of European Affairs in 1991-93, responsible for relations with the former Soviet Union and economic ties with the European Union. Currently, he is National Intelligence Officer for Europe at the National Intelligence Council. |

Throughout the 2006 - 2007 academic year, the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, along with its co-sponsors, will offer a series of events which will focus on the European Union and its member countries. Activities will include lectures presented by speakers from the US and abroad; a student quiz bowl covering geography, politics, history, current events, and the arts; a panel discussion presented by international students; and many more.
