The U.S. and the European Union in 2020: Where Will We Be?
Speaker:
Richard Kauzlarich, former U.S. Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina

Ambassador Kauzlarich, a VU graduate, was Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1997-99 and to Azerbaijan in 1993-97. He was Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of European Affairs in 1991-93, responsible for relations with the former Soviet Union and economic ties with the European Union.  Currently, he is National Intelligence Officer for Europe at the National Intelligence Council.

Throughout the 2006 - 2007 academic year, the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, along with its co-sponsors, will offer a series of events which will focus on the European Union and its member countries. Activities will include lectures presented by speakers from the US and abroad; a student quiz bowl covering geography, politics, history, current events, and the arts; a panel discussion presented by international students; and many more.
