Valparaiso University Foreign Language Scholarships

Deadline: January 30, 2009 postmark -- early applications encouraged
Valparaiso University announces its annual competition for $1000 scholarships for freshman students who will major in Classics, French, German, or Spanish. These merit awards are renewable three times for a total of $4,000 if the student remains a foreign language major and makes satisfactory academic progress. Scholarship holders may have two majors.

Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of this application, an essay of 200 words, a teacher's letter or recommendation, and a foreign language exam which must be taken before January 30, 2009. German and Spanish students will take the exam on-line (step 4 below). Latin and French students may take the exam during a campus visit; if that is not convenient the exam will be mailed to the applicant's high school teacher for administration at the high school. The exam is approximately one hour in length.

We invite you to be considered for one of these scholarships.
