The French program at VU offers advanced courses that focus on three areas: language skills, literature, and civilization. All advanced courses are conducted in French. We encourage students to study abroad and participate in French-related activities on campus. Students who major in French pursue a variety of careers, from teaching to business. All of them, however, realize the value of being able to communicate effectively in a language other than English, and being conversant in the French literary and cultural traditions, as well as understanding contemporary French culture.
