Chemistry, Biology, and German

Jake Stefan's family heritage is probably what got him so excited about German, but it was the close friendships he developed with our German exchange students that sealed the deal on making German part of his pre-med studies.  Last year in Tübingen, Jake was able to maintain those friendships, but this time in Germany, studying and interning at a major medical clinic there. The patients knew him as "der nette junge Amerikaner."

"At Valpo, the German Department worked hard to help me package a German major and a year abroad in Tübingen along with my majors in Biology and Chemistry. In Tübingen, I was able to combine all my academic interests as an intern at a German hospital."

• Jake returned to the German House his senior year after living there sophomore year, both years working as a Student Building Manager.
• He is proof that with a little planning you can study abroad -- even if you are in a pre-med curriculum.
