Fall 2011 -- Make an appointment with TutorTrac

LRC Language Partners have set schedules and can accommodate drop-in or by-appointment sessions.

• French, German, and Spanish: Ali, French Language Partner Kelsey, German Language Partner Emily, Spanish Language Partner • How to make an appointment with TutorTrac: 1. Use your ValpoNet username and password to login to TutorTrac. 2. Click on the Search Availability button on the left . 3. Under Center choose LRC: Language partners. 4. Under Section choose your language course. 5. Under Reason choose the general reason for your visit. 6. Select the date range.  You can make an appointment up to 30 days in advance. 7. Click Search to find the language partner's availability. 8. Choose an appointment time that works with your schedule. Each session is 30 minutes. 9. In the Notes field at the bottom of the pop-up window, add your specific goal for this session. 10. Click Save to make your appointment.  You will receive an email reminder about your upcoming appointment.

About Language Partners: 

The LRC Language Partners provide first-level academic support to language students of all abilities and level of study in order to help students improve their skills and/or course grade.  Language Partners for French, German, and Spanish have a set schedule, are available for drop-in or by-appointment sessions, and can meet students desiring a one-time session or sessions on a weekly basis. Students needing any level of support should first speak with their professor and then contact the LRC.  Depending on student needs and Language Partner availability, the LRC may refer students to the Academic Success Center after reviewing the student's class schedule and/or need for supplemental tutoring beyond what the LRC can provide.

Language Partners are among the very top student French, German, Greek, Latin and Spanish majors within their language and have been hand-selected by their professors.  Students meet with a Language Partner to work on whatever area the student wants to focus on during the session -- from the first semester student who needs help with basic pronunciation principles to the intermediate student who wants to review the subjunctive or go over the finishing touches on a paper.  Language Partners also love to talk in their target language!  Advanced students are encouraged to meet up with a Language Partner as a peer and fellow language major to simply chat about weekend plans or exchange study abroad stories while enjoying some music and coffee in the Language Café.

Also, note that tutoring for MACS students, the Chinese studies graduate program, often takes place in the LRC, though assistance is coordinated through the professor and not through the LRC.
