Reading to be done before Class: Review CES Figure 2.4 and Insight 2.3 pp. 51-52. Optional Reading about Atmospheric Moisture and Atmospheric Circulation in The Physical Environment online textbook.
Come to class with a basic familiarity with the following concepts and ideas: ConceptsOrographic precipitation, adiabatic cooling, trade winds (easterlies), Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn, Equator, North and South Poles.
