Advanced Geographic Information Systems

Course Description

Building on the knowledge of GIS you gained in GEO 215, this advanced course will focus on designing and executing research projects using GIS. Of critical importance in this regard is the gathering and processing of a wide variety of spatial and attribute data. Thus data issues will serve as a central focus this semester. Through this course you will also gain additional skills in advanced GIS operations in ArcView, especially some of its most versatile extensions. To achieve these goals, we will spend the majority of the course engaged in hands-on lab exercises tied to brief lectures. Prerequisite: GEO 215.
