What is Kinder lernen Deutsch?
Kinder lernen Deutsch is a once-a-week, after school program that introduces children to beginning German language and culture through games, songs, art projects and fun.
Who are the learners and teachers for Kinder lernen Deutsch?
The learners are elementary-school children of Valpo faculty and staff and children from Hayes Leonard, Northview, and Parkview Elementary Schools. The teachers are Valpo students who are studying German, Elementary Education, or both. Teachers take workshop training in FLES methods (Foreign Languages in the Elementary School) and are supervised by a Valpo faculty member.
Where do classes take place?
Classes take place at the Kade-Duesenberg German House and Cultural Center (822 Mound Street in Valparaiso).
Why might I register my child for Kinder lernen Deutsch?
Children learn language easily; why not start them now so that language learning seems familiar when it is finally introduced at school?
