DEFA (East German) Film Festival and Lecture
The state-run film studio of the German Democratic Republic was called DEFA (Deutsche Filmaktiengesellschaft). Headquartered near Berlin, DEFA produced films in nearly all genres, including 750 feature films. The DEFA Film Festival introduces four of their best-known films.

A moving story about a man who brings comfort to his Nazi-occupied Polish ghetto by relating fabricated news stories. (Remade in 1999 with Robin Williams.)
