Laura Diemer and Ryan Taber, recipients of Henry and June Giebel Study Abroad Scholarships, enjoy an outing in Tübingen with former German House RA, Christine Diebold.
The Henry and June Giebel Scholarships provide financial assistance to Valpo students who study abroad:
1) in Rottenburg am Neckar at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik (for organ students who are double majoring in German and music);
2) in the VIEP-German program with a fall semester in Reutlingen and spring and summer in an engineering cooperative-education placement; or
3) for a full year in Tübingen, with preference to future German teachers.
The level of financial assistance varies according to the number of students who qualify for assistance, but it is often roughly an amount equivalent to housing expense in Germany for the semester or year (about $2,500 per semester). Students who are accepted into one of the three programs listed above are automatically considered for a Henry and June Giebel Scholarship.
