Kalkweiler Tor in Rottenburg am Neckar

Valpo's relationship with the city of Rottenburg am Neckar, Germany, began in 2000 when Henry and June Giebel of Des Plaines, Illinois established the Josef Eberle Endowment at Valparaiso University in honor of Mr. Giebel's late uncle, Prof. Dr. Josef Eberle.  The Josef Eberle Endowment allows students and scholars from Rottenburg am Neckar to spend a semester at Valparaiso University, where their presence enriches the lives of students, faculty and staff of the university.  The year 2000 also marked the opening of the Kade-Duesenberg German House and Cultural Center.

A second generous gift from Mr. and Mrs. Giebel provides financial assistance to Valpo students who are studying in Rottenburg am Neckar and in the neighboring cities of Reutlingen and Tübingen, where Valpo has long had a presence.

If you plan to major in German at Valparaiso University, please apply during your senior year at high school for one of Valpo's Foreign Language Scholarships.
