Union Defines Valpo Experience

Thanks to initial gifts from Valparaiso University alumni and friends, construction of a new 202,000-square-foot union began this past November, with opening scheduled during academic year 2008-’09.

Some $13 million remains to be raised for the union, which has a total project cost of $74 million.

Your gift to the union supports:

• student development of leadership, teamwork and social skills.
• the residential community education that distinguishes Valparaiso University, allowing the
• interaction of students, faculty and staff.
• Valpo’s ability to produce graduates who become leaders in their churches, professions and communities.

The union accomplishes the above by providing:

• space for the more than 100 student organizations on campus.
• an international and multicultural suite.
• a large central dining hall where students, faculty and staff can share meals.
• a banquet/multipurpose room that can seat 500 people for banquets or 1,000 for lectures.
• an office suite for the Career Center.
• a convenience store.
• a post office.
• a mailbox for each student on campus, and
• a bookstore that also will carry Valpo merchandise for alumni.
