Why Internationalization is Important

No vision of compelling education at Valparaiso University can be complete without a strong emphasis on internationalization. The world has changed radically in the last two decades and both the new global interdependence and the movements of people across the globe demand a sophisticated international and cross-cultural perspective in order to thrive in any domain.

"Valpo must prepare students who are global citizens," says Mark Schwehn, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. "We need to provide the tools for students to thive in this very interconnected world, and our involvement in the Internationalization Laboratory will help us achieve our goals."
