The Valparaiso University Chorale started a three-day residency at Thomaskirche in Leipzig (its third since 2004) by performing during a Friday evening service on May 28.
The Chorale is the only U.S. ensemble ever to be invited to serve a residency at Thomaskirche. It is serving as the choir for weekend worship services in a role usually performed by the Thomanerchor, the choir that J.S. Bach led during his 27 years as cantor for the church.
Prior to the service, members of the Chorale were led on a special tour of the Bach-Archiv Leipzig by Bach scholar Dr. Peter Wollny.
