EducationUSA Information

EducationUSA LogoEducationUSA is a global network of more than 450 advising and information centers in 170 countries supported by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. These centers actively promote United States higher education around the world by offering accurate, comprehensive, objective and timely information about educational opportunities in the United States and guidance to qualified individuals on how best to access those opportunities.

EducationUSA advising centers are staffed by professional advisers, many of whom have first-hand experience having studied in the United States themselves, and/or having received State Department-approved training about United States higher education and the advising process. They assist roughly 25 million prospective international students each year, either in person, by telephone, through e-mail, or on the Internet.

Centers provide impartial, accurate information about the full range of accredited institutions of higher learning in the United States. They do not serve as agents or recruiters and are encouraged to abide by established standards of ethical practice. Information available at centers includes:

  • profiles of U.S. institutions, including course descriptions
  • application procedures and strategies
  • financial assistance options
  • information on standardized tests required for admission such as TOEFL, SAT and GRE
  • predeparture orientation programming.
