- FLU SHOTS AVAILABLE TO FACULTY AND STAFF OCT. 6, 13 AND 14
As a service to Valpo faculty, staff, retirees and their spouses, the Hammond Clinic will administer seasonal flu shots Oct. 6, 13 and 14 by appointment. Those sessions are Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m., Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Oct. 6 and 14 sessions will take place in the Harre Union Victory Bell Room, and the Oct. 13 session will take place in the Harre Union Alumni Room.
Reservations are required and the cost is $22.00 per person. This fee will be directly billed to Anthem for PPO and HRA plan participants under the preventive health benefit. Faculty and staff will not be responsible for payment on the day of vaccination, but will need to bring a photocopy of their insurance card on the day of the vaccination. Those who do not have the University health plan will need to make payment on the day of service via cash or check.
There are other options for receiving the seasonal flu vaccine. However, in order for this vaccine to be covered through the Valpo health plan faculty and staff must use an in network provider. Those who use an out of network provider for this service will be fully responsible for the fees.
The University Health Center is not an Anthem in network provider. Therefore, Valpo employees who receive a flu shot at the Health Center will not be able to file for reimbursement through Anthem’s Health Plan and will be fully responsible for payment.
The flu shot given by the Hammond Clinic is free to retirees who have Medicare Part B. Retirees must bring their Medicare Part B card to the vaccination.
