Immunization Requirements & Information

Required Immunizations:

To meet the requirement for immunizations, proof must be provided in ENGLISH.

If you do not meet the requirements a hold will be placed on your account and you will not be able to register for classes.

1) Measles, Mumps and Rubella - MMR

All students must have TWO (2) doses of MMR. Dose one must be given after 12 months of age. Dose two must be given at least 28 days after the first dose.

You may show proof of separate Measles, Mumps and Rubella immunizations. They must meet the above requirements and you must have all three immunizations.

The MMR immunization is available at the Valparaiso University Health Center. The cost of the MMR immunization is $70.00 each.

2) Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis - TDap

All incoming students will need a TDap within the last 10 years.

The TDap is available at the Valparaiso University Health Center. The cost of the TDap is $65.00

Tuberculosis (TB) Testing

All International students must have a TB test.

You should be tested before your arrival in the United States. You should have a Chest x-ray or Interferon Gama Release Assay (IGRA).

A TB skin test is only acceptable if completed in the United States.

If you have a positive TB skin test you must have a Chest x-ray.

The TB skin test is available at the Valparaiso University Health Center. The cost of the TB skin test is $20.00

 

 


 

Recommended

Meningococcal - One dose for college freshman living in dormitories/residence halls, persons with asplenia, travelers to endemic areas, non-freshman college students who wish to reduce their risk of meningococcal disease.

Polio - Primary series, doses started at 28 days apart.  Three primary series acceptable.

Hepatitis A

Hepatitis B

Varicella- Birth in the U.S. before 1980, a history of chiken pox, a positive varicella antibody, or two doses of vaccine meet the requirement.
