Experience/Skills: | Required: Minimum 2 years practical experience; working knowledge of: multiple server operating systems, including Linux/UNIX and Windows, and networking protocols (particularly TCP/IP); self motivation, willingness to work during off hours maintenance and be on call 24x7; ability to work under pressure. Desired: Working knowledge of VMare ESX/Virtual Infrastructure 3, NetWare, Solaris, Apache, Postfix SMTP, Project management, Identity management, Directory management (particularly eDirectory and LDAP), Groupwise administration, Scripting and automation, Database concepts (especially MS-SQL, Orade and MySQL), SAN experience (especially EMC CX ad IBM DS4000 series). |
Job Summary: | Assistant with the planning, implementation and management of central university computer systems. Daily duties include work with operating systems, security, network connections, and applications software; analyze needs and create custom solutions for the campus community. This position provides indirect support to the University community via various systems and servers. This service supports communication and storage of office electronic documents, email and other applications and is therefore critical to the operation of the University. The person in this position may be called upon to provide direct advice or assistance to any students, faculty, or staff member up to and including the President.
