Education:
Master's degree in International Studies or similar field. Some knowledge of Marketing and management preferred. Experience/Skills:
- 5 years in recruiting higher education preferred.
- Familarity with higher education systems in both the USA and China.
- Knowledge of higher education in Japan, Korea, India and Central Asia.
- Verbal and written fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
- Ability to translate verbal and written in Chinese and English.
Job Summary:
Valparaiso University seeks to fill the position of Coordinator of Asian Student Recruitment and Advising. The successful candidate will be able to:
- Team-teach one course each semester in the field of international studies and/or Asian Studies.
- Develop long term strategies for international recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students in Asian markets.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with faculty, teachers, high school and college advisers, administrators, and prospective students and their parents about Valparaiso University.
- Understand US visa requirements and guide students through the process.
- Assist incoming Asian students with transition to Valparaiso University, including transportation to the campus, housing, getting settled, and so on.
- Facilitate the integration of Asian students into the VU campus by providing couseling, orientation, language, and similar services.
- Independently and regularly visit East Asian markets to develop and foster partnerships with high schools and universities.
- This is a 12 month full time position with salary and benefits.
