Required:
- Thorough understanding of instructional design methodology and instructional technology including but not limited to Blackboard, lecture capture software, video and web cameras, projectors, and document cameras.
- Experience using the various forms of distance collaboration tools, such as videoconferencing, desktop sharing, web conferencing, network and conferencing standards, video over IP, streaming technologies and the Internet.
- Demonstrated experience connecting pedagogical needs and supporting teaching and learning activities as they specifically related to classroom technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in technical field, audio/visual or instructional technology/design.
- Two years of related professional experience in education.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and working as part of a team.
- Demonstrated experience relating well to other people and communicating effectively.
- Demonstrated experience setting priorities and adapting quickly to new needs.
Preferred:
- Experience working with classroom technology in an educational setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Radio/Television or Media Arts/Production.
- Familiarity with audio and video capture and editing as well as videoconferencing technology and protocols.
Physical Context of the Job:
Mostly office and classroom environment. Requires extensive use of computers. Requires extensive contact with other people. Requires considerable on-campus travel, at all times of the year. May involve occasional contact with printer toner, cleaning agents, and similar hazardous materials normally found in an office or classroom environment. Involves frequent lifting and moving of equipment and furniture, including relocating electrical equipment. Involves hazard or electrical shock. |
Job Summary: | This position provides technical and pedagogical support for web conferencing and other distance learning and instructional technologies. Coordinate production during class sessions as well as pre/post production assistance. Troubleshoot software and hardware issues and assist with classroom technology issues. Facilitate videoconferences and instructional audio/video projects. Primary responsibility is to the College of Business. The person in this position may be called upon to provide direct advice or assistance to any student, faculty, or staff member up to and including the President.
Specific Duties:
- Existing Classroom Technology: Troubleshoot, repair or replace projectors, screens, carts, network connections, touch panels, document cameras, switching/control devices, etc.
- New Classroom Technology: Under the direction of the Director of ILS, work with vendors to install new classroom technology according to current specifications. Oversee installation.
- Instructional A/V: Setup equipment, capture and edit media as needed for instructional projects. Train student workers as needed.
- Videoconferencing: Setup equipment, establish and test connections for videoconferences. Troubleshoot problems with connection and/or equipment.
- Inventory: Establish and maintain an inventory of classroom technology equipment including purchase/installation date, maintenance and repairs. Establish and maintain an inventory of classroom technology replacement parts.
- Reporting: Track and report on prescribed metrics to the Director of ILS and the CIO, as needed.
- Monitoring: Implement and oversee classroom technology remote monitoring software system.
