The Director of Alumni Relations is a member of the leadership team within Institutional Advancement and reports directly to the Vice President.  The Director is responsible for the design, planning, execution, and assessment of an integrated strategic alumni and parent engagement program that serves the University’s 50,000 alumni and its current parents.  The Director provides staff support to the Valparaiso University Alumni Association through regular work with its Board of Directors.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work strategically to align the Alumni Relations Office and the Alumni Association’s activities with the Strategic Plan of the University;
• Manage current programs and activities as well as create new and unique engagement opportunities for alumni with varying and diverse needs and expectations;
• Assess, expand and enhance the current regional chapter/club program, working with the alumni relations staff and alumni volunteers to develop a plan for a revitalized regional program;
• Supervise an Alumni Relations team consisting of two Associate Directors, one Assistant Director, and one Coordinator to ensure that staff members reach their individual goals, and so that the team succeeds and works in an integrated way within the Advancement division;
• Model appropriate strategies for recruiting, staffing, and recognizing alumni volunteers;
• Provide staff support for the Parent’s Council program;
• Work closely and collaboratively with campus partners to develop effective and integrated alumni engagement programming that supports the goals of the University’s strategic plan;
• Work collaboratively and strategically to support the University’s fundraising goals, and ensure that the Alumni Relations office plays a vital role in annual development programs.
