Education:

BA or higher

Experience/Skills:

  • 10 plus years experience in strategic communication with emphasis on executive and internal communications.
  • B.A. or higher, in public relations, communications, journalism ore related field - with strong communications planning and writing/editing skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to build positive, strategic relationships with executive-level professionals.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in speech writing  presentation development and other executive communications support.
  • Ability wo work independently in a highly collaborative, cross-functional teaming atmosphere.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Integrated Marketing Communications, the Director of Executive and Internal Communications provides executive communications and internal communications support to advance the mission and vision and Valparaiso University. The director will provide executive communications counsel, speech writing, and support to the University President and other university leadership and lead the development and implementation of an internal communications strategy for the campus.

The chosen candidate will have a proven track record of building successful relationships with executive leadership and in developing and executing strategic communications plans. As part of the above, the director will work closely with members of the IMC creative services to coordinate and execute plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Proven expertise in developing and implementing executive communications strategies and tactics to help achieve desired business/univeristy objectives.
  • Experience in building executive brand and effectively communicating with key campus audiences.
  • Provide communications support and counsel to the President of Valparaiso University, including speech writing and development of presentations.
  • Experience in developing and executing internal communications strategies, including an understanding of employee communication and change management.
  • Collaborates with other individuals on campus including administrators, faculty and deans to achieve a variety of marketing communication goals, with a focus on internal communications.
